Engine Options and Performance Specs

New 2017 Toyota Highlander models will now employ a 3.5-liter Direct Injection V-6 that promises more power and better efficiency. Performance and fuel economy are further amplified by a responsive Direct Shift eight-speed automatic transmission that uses eight gears to improve your miles per gallon. An additional Stop and Start Engine System is implemented as well to upgrade fuel-economy ratings.

Design, Style and Trim Levels

With the new model refresh, the 2017 Toyota Highlander has undergone some significant style and design upgrades. The biggest change to the revamped Highlander is a new front end. Featuring new upper and lower grille designs that will employ trim-specific finishes, the Toyota Highlander will turn heads. Standard LE, LE Plus and XLE trim levels will have a silver painted grille finish that is upgraded to a chrome painted finish for Limited and Platinum trim levels. A refreshed taillight design will add to the style of the new Highlander as well. Gas-powered Highlander editions will be available in six well-equipped trim levels that include an all-new sport-tuned Highlander SE trim that features a dark painted grille design. Should you choose the Highlander Hybrid, you will find that there are now four trim levels to choose from, offering a more diverse selection for discerning drivers. Your exterior color choices will improve as well, adding three new color options that include -- Celestial Silver Metallic, Toasted Walnut Pearl and Salsa Red Pearl for Highlander SE models. With a Pre-Collision System, Forward Collision Warning, Lane Departure Alert, Automatic High Beams and Dynamic Radar Cruise Control at your disposal, you and your family will be safer than ever. The brand-exclusive Bird’s Eye View Camera system with revolutionary Perimeter Scan feature will further augment your safety when backing out of the driveway or parking stalls.
